PhD Project

Individualization of head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) provides an approach to improve the quality of binaural synthesis, e.g. by maintaining the accuracy of localization comparable to the corresponding real sound fields. HRTFs depend on physical features such as the individual's torso, head, outer ear (pinna) and these anthropometrics are idiosyncratic features. So definitely commonly measured HRTFs cannot be used for everyone, which leads to poor quality of 3D audio experience for the users. Here the goal of the project is to individualize the HRTFs by finding the important features which influence the HRTFs.
