Paul Davis is the lead author and architect of the digital audio workstation Ardour, and the audio routing system JACK. He has worked for more than 9 years on open source software for musicians and professional audio users, focused primarily on the Linux platform. He was also a co-designer of the LADSPA plugin API, and has represented the linux audio software community in a variety of commercial and professional environments. Previously, Davis was one of the founding programmers at Amazon.com, though leaving early in the life of the company. Before Amazon, he worked as a systems programmer for the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington in Seattle, focusing on thread systems and support of various multi-processor systems (Sequent, KSR). Other software work has included time with Silver Spring Networks (San Mateo), Schlumberger Cambridge Research (UK) and several smaller software companies in Seattle. Davis completed a BSc(Hons) in Molecular Biology & Biophysics from Portsmouth Polytechnic (UK) and then pursued post-graduate studies in computational biology at the Weizmann Institute (Rehovot) and EMBL (Heidelberg). He is a moderately accomplished endurance athlete, claims a complete lack of musical ability, and cooks a lot.
