The Electronic Orchestra: Exploring Concepts for Network Interaction
Within The Electronic Orchestra we explore the improvisation and interpretation of Electroacoustic Music in larger ensembles. This includes the interaction of diverse electronic instruments and their spatialization in real time. The class serves as a training ground for the Electronic Orchestra Charlottenburg (EOC), which is performing the resulting approaches in professional contexts. With Exploring Concepts for Network Interaction, the seminar is moving towards the engineering and use of network audio hubs for an interactive audio routing and the distribution of information and instructions. In conjunction with Local Networks for Musical Interaction in Ensembles, students will build Linux based network audio hubs, using free and open source software tools, and use them for their own musical projects. For this aspect, the integration of electronic or acoustical musical instruments is highly recommended.
The class will be taught every second week and includes 2 additional dates for developing performances which will be presented at the end of the semester:
- December 14, 12:00-18:00
- January 25, 12:00-18:00
Exploring Concepts for Network Interaction is taught in conjunction with
Local Networks for Musical Interaction in Ensembles
and can/should be combined with
Online Jamming and Concert Technology
for the modules MSc-AKT 9 a/b/c.
Interested students should assign to this mailing-list (shared with the Online Jamming Seminar). The number of students for this course is limited. You get a confirmation from the list-admin.
