“Musique mixte” presents a non-linear examination of the history and practice of instrumental music in combination with electronic sound. We will focus on the role of new technologies in shaping musical thought, aesthetics, production (such as processes of sound generation/recording/retrieval, interface design, acoustics, analysis/synthesis, spectral considerations, deep listening, controllerism, etc.)

Listening and analysis examples are drawn from a broad range of musics, styles and genres, including postwar and experimental music, computer music, ambient music, sound art, multimedia, and others. 

The seminars "Musique mixte" and "Sound in its Own Space" are conceived as complementary parts, with "Musique mixte" addressing questions of sound morphology, analysis, generation, and live/generated signal fusion, and "Sound in its Own Space" focusing on sound diffusion, acoustics, and spatialization strategies.
