Designing Systems for Musical Performance: Language as an Interface
In this practice course we look into creating bespoke systems for musical performance. Designing a performance system is a compositional activity and it involves research and writing code. We will explore the SuperCollider programming language as a system for musical thinking and how we can create constraints (by designing our own languages and systems) in order to define our unique musical approach. The course will also involve an exploration of Sema, which is a system for creating live coding languages for machine learning using Web Audio.
