Following on from the first topic ‘3D sound, environments and human agency in acousmatic music’, I will then move on to the topic of live electroacoustic performance and interactive VR. Spatialisiation naturally plays a part here too, but the focus of these classes will be as to the musical meaning and application of ‘live’ in electroacoustic works. I will first look at how sound diffusion spatialisation performance can be re-found in an ambisonics 3D world using the Virtualmonium instrument: an emulation of the acousmonium in higher-order ambisonics. I will then present some live electroacoustic works incorporating acoustic instruments, and investigate the application and results of real-time signal processing – in time, frequency and space - in a performance context. The lectures will also include examples from my latest VR collaboration and working with interactive 3D sound and visual imagery.
