Electroacoustic music in all its forms
This course is about technology and techniques used in electroacoustic music history. It is structured as a historical discussion, where the technical means are studied in relation to specific pieces. In many cases, where a score exists, the piece will be played in a multimedia presentation in which score and music are synchronized. When no score exists, the piece will be played sometimes with a spectral analysis with comments. In any case, some sort of visual representaition of electroacoustic music be included as often as possible.
While this course is not hands-on and practical, it will give students precise information on the technical means used throughout over 65 years of electroacoustic music. At the same time, the pieces selected will be drawn from a wide repertory, illustrating all kinds of styles and genres, from pure acousmatic music to large mixed pieces and interactive music, from fixed media to gestural control, from studio productions to score following.
