Repertoire and Performance Practice of Acousmatic Music
Inhalt:
Radical music requires radical strategies – not only in its creation, but also in its transmission to the listener.
This course examines approaches to the presentation of music stored on fixed media (acousmatic music) from compositional, historical, theoretical and pragmatic points of view. It will discuss the relationship between composition and performance and elaborate the practice of ‘sound diffusion’.
Practical work is an integral part of the course: students will be required to perform pieces in class and to explain their reasons for their interpretation and performance decisions. After the end of the course, there will be an opportunity not only to hear pieces performed on the BEAST sound diffusion system in the Inventionen Festival, but also to participate in a workshop session using the full BEAST system.
